About me

My name is Malte Engeler, I am a legal professional with many years of experience in the areas of data protection law, administrative law and legal procedures.

Publications

I publish and speak regularly in legal publications, handbooks, and journals, as well as on online media and conferences. A list of my publications and lectures can be found here.

Blog

Occasionally I self-publish shorter - blog style - thoughts on digital society, data protection and data economy. This is where you can find them.

What drives me

The intersection of technology, law and society has been the focus of my curiosity from before I started my professional life. In a digital society the principles of the rule of law, human rights and information technology are intertwined to an unprecedented degree

The spectrum of the discourse is vast. From data protection hysteria to digitalization naiveté, opinions and positions are struggling for dominance. I want to get involved in this debate with a commitment to ensuring that technology remains controllable and serves society, both today and for future generations.
